I look at it as selfishness... enjoying the good life and at the same time commenting on issues that don't really matter to them...that happen far away in another land...All Talk and No Actionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10241065789942589469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550144415019268313.post-70763816046486035132008-09-03T06:47:00.000+01:002008-09-03T06:47:00.000+01:00Here's my $0.02..Once you leave your home counry, ...Here's my $0.02..

Once you leave your home counry, it's difficult to be accepted by foreigners and you always remain a "outsider" in a way...and so they strive harder to be "one amongst us"..

And from the other stand-point..of ppl living in india...it's like "ghar ki mugri daal barabar"...

Also I think many of these indians abroad are associated with NGO and other organizations maybe because having been here for sometime, they know how lucky they are and how things should be..and hence they feel more like giving something back to the society...whereas in india, people are always immersed in their own problems (financially and otherwise) and don't find time for doing these things...BS..https://www.blogger.com/profile/02997628824901623754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-550144415019268313.post-43989523589900957322008-08-31T14:22:00.000+01:002008-08-31T14:22:00.000+01:00@india unbound - I don't think it's only in first ...@india unbound -
I don't think it's only in first generation NRIs. I have found many people our age being very well informed and showing more interest in national issues. Basically, all those who have stayed in India at some point do keep a track of the current events...

@raindropz-

Sad. I feel the reasons for this are the same as mentioned by you. This trend is observed mostly in first generation NRIs, i.e.FOBs. We have heard and read a lot about second generation ABCDs. But the third generation is almost detached from its Indian "roots".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
