Now this is what true Brand Loyalty is about !

Some brands have it in them to become a part and parcel of our daily existence...

Yes, conventional wisdom requires this company to take a few harsh decisions. However, would listening to public demand help this struggling brand?
Only time will tell...

Now this has got me thinking - which one of our Desi Brands have it in them to garner such public hysteria? Who has enough mass appeal? Who has managed to become an integral part of our lives?

Can we name home grown brands - that stand for values we believe in and would hate to lose?

This is one of the best marketing campaign ever. Despite the fact that Starbucks has to close its stores in so many US states (one of the obivious possible reason could be lack of demand), it has been successful in giving this negative news a good twist that will probably help the brand.

True, its a very good mktg campaign. However, this one has been initiated by the people...and that's the best thing...what I would still like to know is...if there are Desi Brands that we would fight for?

I feel this marketing campaign is initiated by Starbucks itself. We would see many such "public outcry" for many brands in the future as Starbucks would definitely inspire others.

As far as fight for a Desi brand is considered, the closest example that comes to my mind is of Thums Up which was killed by Coke after they bought it from Parle, so that market share for Coca Cola could be increased. However they had to revive it and now it is the no. 1 soft drink in the country. Infact Thumps Up is more popular than Coke in India and is an exception because Coke is ahead of other brands in its portfolio in other countries, India being the only exception. This despite the fact that marketing budget for Coke in India is much higher than Coke. There was no "fight" for Thums Up's revivial but I feel it is one of the strongest Indian brand and has been giving a tough fight to others.

True about thumbs Up...generations have been proud of Thumbs Up..and its craze was certainly unmatched...

Yet, I don't think it can be called an enduring Indian Brand...
