Attached below are a friend's thoughts. I couldn't help sharing them here. I agree with most of them. Hope, they help us cast our votes sensibly.
Fiscal Deficit at 10.3% of GDP (highest in history, all time high)
Deaths from terrorist Attacks: 3674 lives (higher than North, Central, South America, Europe,
Real GDP Growth Rate (GDP Growth Rate less Inflation) is Negative, will we finally witness the stone age with the current deceleration in our economy?? My Camera is Ready, should the Congress win
For not supporting the War on terror. The War on terror is after all for countries like
Stalling Infrastructure Projects: Several Infrastructure Projects have been temporarily stalled. The Golden Quadrilateral has several phases still to be completed, our very own Bandra Worli Sea Link took over 10 years to complete, compare it to the Empire State Building built in record 13 months and that too in 1929 (Great Depression)
Making Aviation Expensive: Allowing the Private Airport Developers to charge User Development Fee, thereby making air travel more expensive. Lets rejoice once again and enjoy the good old fashioned rail travel. After all its always been the notion that only the elite can fly
I fondly remember, Aam Admi Ko Kya Mila Campaign by Congress, its good that they left it as a question, as it is still a question, after all what can the, ‘aam admi’ get when for terrorists welfare (Mr. Qasab) the tax payer simply pays closer to about 10 crores a day, what can the aam admi expect??
Aam Admi should not get anything as Congress is all about ‘Khaas Admi’, its just been one Nehru family that has been controlling the destiny of this country since 1947, maybe we haven't suffered enough from Mr. Nehru’s Socialist approach. It does appear if everyone that has a Gandhi Surname has a political future. What good is meritocracy, when most talented Indians are already abroad, why not get away with ridiculous reservations?
Mr. Shivraj Patil finally resigns after over 4 years of slumber, thank God he at least woke up. Why should he get fired any which ways, after all what good are reservations if they don’t protect the incompetent?
Decline in health care: It was quite annoying to visit government run hospitals that are disgustingly, rat and cockroach infested. What good is USD 320 Billion Forex Reserves, where a nation cannot guarantee its citizens quality, affordable health care?
Making
Our local candidate, Mr. Milind Deora during a meeting mentioned that do not come to my home for water, electricity and any other problems. It is not quite as relieving as watching him on news channels after the Mumbai attacks
Indian Army: Feel extremely proud of the Indian Army presentation during last year’s Republic Day, the short and medium range missiles. However, I feel we can reduce our fiscal deficit by creating a museum as we never intend to use these weapons. Our army are much better off committing atrocities in
For increasing tax rates, making us the 23rd least friendly tax climate, eroding investor confidence and entrepreneur’s profits. Instead of plugging in a leaking bucket, Mr. Chidambaram is too busy increasing avenues and milking its existing cash cows
Banning Smoking in Public but being least bothered to enforce it, making a sheer mockery of the government enforcement

"aam aadmi ko kuch nahi mila". You are told very less fact, there are more than hundreds of facts which needs to be revealed. People are divided on the basis of caste and religion and introduced the quota even in higher institution. Playing pseudo secularism. Burdened with more and more taxes and higher tax regime. Bribes in all govt. sector increased and no punishment, internal security under threat, no action against terriorist and perpetrator of crime. Lack of vision and younger leadership at the centre both organisational and ministerial level and parliament becomes an old age home. Even youngsters come from dynastic background only. Bad shape in foreign policy, Corporate, Builder lobbies, grabbing poors land and affecting their livelihood.
The list are endless. Aam admi is worried. Your article is quite interesting.

lets get are country back but from whom????...this article seems like anti-congress...to start with i would say m dont support congress and i have voted for NDA for all election n probably this time too i will do the same....but lets not just critisized UPA for sake of it..i think NDA and UPA are more or less same...infact i would say UPA handled economic situation in more better way than there counter parts ...and its CPM who didnt allow disinvestement more then 50%...n that y we have our insured money still safe in TATA-AIG acc even after AIG went down, bcoz it had only 24% stake.....
and far as fiscal deficit goes it can give you more insight
http://www.theindiastreet.com/2008/05/india%E2%80%99s-fiscal-deficit-is-the-highest-in-the-world.html
even more deficit can be better sometimes....and do check for oil prices from NDA to UPA.....
and regarding ur frndz comment on army i think those weapons are more for avoiding the war than going for one..think abt it...our neighbour has nuclear power too...
and to say wat breakthrough thing UPA did..for me its RTI,employment gurantee and farmers home loan weaiver(even that add for deficit)...
and to see the comparision...
http://ibnlive.in.com/news/congbjp-faceoff-who-should-you-vote-for/90068-37-single.html
and i dont think milind deora could say that...but even if he did then his correct....u cant go for water and electricity to member of parliament....there are more then sixteen statutory bodies..... BMC, MMRDA, BEST, MSEB, MHADA, Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP), Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (MUIP) etc..to look after that....
i totally share ur frndz view on afsal guru and reservation....

Hey A, ( and this response is not directed at anyone per se)
Following is a cut and paste from (http://www.anindianmuslim.com/)
When we are BUSY HATING JUST ONE TERRORIST OR ONE GROUP, see we are missing the opportunity to "HATE", some more deserving....
Keep hating...
Solution we will find some other day...some other generation!
-----------------------------------
I would request you to just have a look at the frequency of attacks mentioned below:
1. 11 CISF personnel gunned down in Naxal attack on NALCO bauxite mine in Orissa (April 13) [Link courtesy The Hindu]
2. Landmine blast kills 7 including five para-military force personnel and two passengers in Jharkhand, 12 others killed by Maoists in Bihar, Orissa and Maharashtra (April 16)
3. 1 killed, 18 injured as Barak Valley Express targeted by Jewel Garlosa militant group in Assam (April 9) [Link courtesy BBC]
4. Two killed, dozen injured in attack on goods train in Assam (April 10) [Link]
5. ULFA targets Kamrup Express, two blasts on railway track (April 13)
6. CRPF DG's chopper fired by suspected Maoists
7. Dima Halam Daoga group kills 7 including 6 policemen [Link]
8. Naxalites hijack train, hold 300 passengers hostage (April 22)
9. Convoy of 25 vehicles of Bodo leaders attacked by NDFB militants in Kokarajhar, three killed
Read the newspapers reports and you will find that the word terrorism was never used. Even the word militants was not used. Just like LTTE remains Tigers or Tamil rebels, the Naxals were called Maoists or left-wing extremists and the Assam groups termed as ULFA separatists or outlawed factions.
How many of us have heard the name of Black Widow group that killed seven persons North Cachar district? Headlines read, 'Cops killed in fresh violence in Assam'. The news items are put in inside pages and the word terrorism is nowhere to be found.
@Anon - I completely agree with all that you have mentioned. The worst thing to have in one's manifesto is - Reservation in Education & Pvt. Sector.
Thank you for your comment. Shall definitely check out Aam Aadmi's Blog.
@allthecrap - First I think you should vote only when you are fully convinced about what your party has done, is capable of doing.
RTI is definitely a very good act. However, I don't agree with farmer loan waiver. It's put a massive burden on Indian Banks.
Problem with UPA is implementation ! Just how many great projects wait to see the light of the day...
Golden Quadrilateral, Linking Of Rivers, Bandra Worli Sea Link, Mumbai Metro, etc. Isn't it surprising that NOT one highway (out of 49) was completed in the last 5 years?
We have schemes in place. But are we sure they are beneficial? Do you think literacy has grown and more schools have been built with the cess we pay?
You can find more hard facts in my earlier post "My expectations from the new Govt."
Also, I don't agree PC has been a star Fin Min at all. One would expect better from such "supposed" Stalwarts.
@Ye Manzilen - Aapne is post ko ek new mod de diya hai. We are discussing One Government's Failure and why we need a change.
Rahi baat Muslim Terrorists and LTTE Rebels/Heroes ki...toh I think the Indian media would be the best one to answer that Q.
i am sure that many of the facts cannot be judged as the performance of a goverment per se..
Deaths from terrorists attack: Rather stating the data, look out for the reasons of it.. ULFA, Naxalites have been active over a long period now.. identifying the people who support or are part of them, is a difficult task.. think about killing dadua or Veerappan or Prabhakaran or Laden.. Moreover, the root basis of such organizations had been freedom of expression and they treated themselves as revoulutionary.. over the time the activities have changed but identifying them and eradicating them, is not a day's job.. Or, we support USA has killing over 60,000 people in Iraq in the name of identifying where Laden is.. Do we support killing people so much in masse.. Here, i am not saying that these activities should be tolerated but everyone in army, police are people.. you need lakhs(may be crores) of soldiers to complete these operations.. do we have this number.. when we grow, we donot even think about going for any such role.. so, do we have the number??
Real GDP growth rate is negative: I really do not support it.. of course, the inflation had been very high over one year but that situation was global.. USA/UK saw faces to the worst conditions.. if you want to see india in isloation then you should incorporate the same phenomenon for everything.. Growth is possible only when there is market globally.. our business does not run in isolation.. we could have flourished pre-1991 era as well if that would have been the case with us.. The world is hit with bad conditions.. the worse is that it is hurt with the bad after a wonderfully-superb-good times.. so the bad is being considered as being extremely bad.. but this happened because of one sector only and that too because of the tendency of too much reliance on that.. i am quite sure that the fundamentals of other businesses are as strong as it were.. the worst is over.. i am pretty sure about it..
The construction of different bridges/roads is a debatable topic but for that you need to know exactly where the fault has occured.. many a things can be blamed on the co-operation of different state governments supporting the construction of such roads.. the issue would be more severe if those states are run by non-supporting alliances..
You cannot compare rail and air travel that easily.. you read BW of last year and you would realise the condition of oil price increase was so severe that if this had not been done and oil companies were run without changing the surcharge or the price-hikes, big giants of indian oil companies would have vanished by Aug'08.. IOC was about to file banckrupcy in July'08.. so these things are not so simple that you can compare with just one factor only.. and noone can say that any other coalition of parties would have dealt it differently..
Terrorists cases are hanging.. so is true for cases like Sanjay dutt/1984 riots and many many more..the legal system of india is not a playcard that can be flipped so easily.. and there had been other governments in between as well.. they made some strict laws but would they be able to implement those by themselves as well.. all questionable enough..
I am not discussing each and everything here.. I am not supporting or opposing any party here.. the one problem that has been is "implementation".. and that too taking the national interests at the priority.. we cant compare ourselves with USA or China as our fundamentals of constitution and governments are different and that gives rise to differences in the implementation part as well..
The democracy has given little room to the "facts".. it gives more room to what people think in general.. and people mostly do not think in general.. they are made to think in some line of thought.. whenever a law is passed, there are things which can easily break those laws.. and the corruption also hampers the people (read, police) who are in charge of policing those laws.. there are loopholes and we are quite busy in identifying those rather than implementing the laws..
The basics we do not follow.. we do not take proper turns.. we do not give signals.. we do not get seat belts on.. no helmets.. very very basic things which are not implemented and here we are saying that this can all be achieved by one government.. or one party.. there are many CMs of that party as well but except Modi, noone is performing.. Modi is exceptional not because of the party, but because of his own initiatives and managerial skills..
So.. its not about the party that gives rise to how the main thing (read, implementation) would be done.. this depends upon how well you train your stakeholders for the right job once they are into the leading position of governing a country like India.. with all its loopholic fundamentally weak democracy..
BJP had also started its "India Shining" campaign in 2004.. and after that such things/flaws were identified by the opposition then.. and you had the results..
Main thing is go on the policies which are going to be futuristic.. 5 years/20 years from now.. judge the past government but do not over-judge the other parties saying that they could have done better.. when they come to the charge, their opposition blames them.. but no party gives thinking towards making a progressive plans and keep improving on that..
thats why i do not like to vote.. though i would surely vote.. :-)
@ye manzil...dude just check the basic difference...all you have mentioned more or less belongs to india....and all who r intruders(which mostly comes from pak) are called as terrorist
@alltalknoaction....i assume u agree on my point regarding fiscal deficit and indian army....
coming to your point....i think home loan waiver is the best thing UPA goverment did....sucess is just not abt bulding road, making transport in overcrowded city bit easy....do we want inclusive growth ??....and if u think thats not a good move then let me tell u NDA manifasto says..they will waive of loan of every farmer and will give them loan at 4%...they will restructure the tax slab and make income upto 3 lakh tax-free..how they handle the deficiet even thy dont have a clue....
ecomomic progress ...avg in UPA 8.5 and NDA 5.8...
agriculture : NDA less then 2%...UPA 3.6%....
well wat i think abt educational progress..doesnt matter..its debatable..we dont have facts out here...
highways are concerned....big achievement by NDA....and UPA failed at that...but look at railways...they made it bigger than ever....
linking of rivers...NDA had it in there mainifesto befoe 99's election and they didnt do a thing abt it too....and sea link and mumbai metro..are done at state level and MMRDA level...
couldnt find ur earlier earleier post..yaar tere blog pe search option nahi hai... :)
waise i never said PC is star FM..but certainly better then jaswant singh for sure...n if CPM wouldnt have been there...we would have seen more bank going bankrupt with disinvestement....atleast they deserve this much credit...
keep posting!!!!!!!.. :)
Great post!
Can I post this on my blog?
@ Twisted Elegance: Yes you can
@ashkd...u make perfect sense men...
@ ashkd
Modi is exceptional not because of the party, but because of his own initiatives and managerial skills.. Do you really think Modi would have been as successful in Congress where chief ministers are not elected but selected by party high command and where their fate does not depend on their performance but on their willingness to crawl in front of high command?
BJP is the only party in the country with some internal democracy. After 2002 riots Atal Bihari Vajpayee wanted Modi to resign but majority in the party felt that Modi should remain and thats what happened. Had Vajpayee's will, who was party's senior most & most powerful leader, prevailed, Gujarat would not have been as developed as it is now.
In BJP merit and not sycophancy decides fate of leaders.
Would later give you a detailed response to other points raised by you.
discussion is getting better... :)
@india unbound...if u think its bjp and not modis acheievement than y it is not vibrant MP or y it was not vibrant rajsthan...
lets give the modi his credit that in such low times (recession) he got investment of 2lakh crore for his state....n thats not bcoz of bjp but bcoz of mr modi....and bjp didnt not throw him out as he become poster boy for all hindus....n varun is on his way...
@ All Crap
Where did I say that credit only goes to BJP and not Modi?
All I am saying is support of party is also crucial.
In my state Maharashtra, the CM has to pay homage to 10 Janpath (Sonia's residence) every 15 days. This is not the case with BJP CMs like Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Raman Singh, Prem Kumar Dhumal, Narendra Modi etc
Despite being a very good administrator Sheila Dikshit too has a tough time in retaing her position. She gets full support from people in Delhi but not from her party.
If Sheila had to devote less time humoring her high command, her performance would be much better.
BJP CMs only have to worry about performance in their respective states.
@ashkd - I feel dazed. You comment is bigger than my post :P
Thought Provoking observations again...
However, we are here not to provide excuses for a particular party's failures but to ask for a change.
Yes, it is very difficult to face ULFA/Mao/etc today. However, what stops us from taking the most basic steps? What stops the government from modernizing it's Police and army? From Upgrading the state weapons? From providing our personnel with better training? What stops the government from Paying our Defense & Police Personnel well?? Why such treatment to the people who take hell so that we can stay safe??
Also, there is large scale disenchantment amongst the people. Look at how neglected the N/E is ! There has been very little growth and modernization there. Also, we face the dangers of Chinese take over there. Daily, our armed personnel and their families die. Public feels helpless. So is it too much to expect stern action from our Prime Minister and the UPA?
Yes, economy wise we can't really blame the UPA. It's a Global situation. But I am not a fan of their means of facing global recession ! Liquidity puri nikal di market se. Arre? Why suck out money now? Why increase rates? It's now that the people and the ecnomy needs money in hand to spend !
For all other topics like defense, infrastructure, security, etc etc...all that is required is a WILL. A will at the centre and at the helm of affairs. I find it lacking in the UPA. All they know is how to play vote bank politics.
@allthecrap - I have seen the face off between Jaitely & Sibal on TV....
I still thnk that waiver of loans for farmers is the worst thing that the govt could have done. Who do you think will pay for the more than 75K crores being spent on this waiver? I also believe that inclusive growth is the best form of growth. Yet, if we are Pro Farmers why not reduce the number of intermediaries? Why not help them become internationally competent? Why not help them get better rates for the produce?? Also, maximum benefit of the loan waiver went to the creamy layer of farmers, not the more deserving ones. By bailing out people all we do is send out wrong signals.
Also, here is my previous post -
http://alltalkandnoaction.blogspot.com/2009/01/my-expectations-from-new-government-i.html
@Twisted Elegance - Thanks for stopping by !! Yes, you can post it on ur blog :)
@India Unbound & Allthecrap - Modi is a star performer. Point Taken :)
Yet, again it comes down to having a supportive party. UPA has tooo many Yes Men types and this is really unhealthy for the nation in the long run.
@allthecrap:
Thanks for the correction.
I wrongly believed all these years that a killer is a killer is a killer - irrespective of color, religion, caste, nationality, and handicap.
very true
agree with most of the stuff u've mentioned
not to forget tht thrs much more tht u cud have written against the pseudo-sec con-gress
nice write-up.. and agree with all comments by india unbound
ignore the typos and my miserable english....:P
@ All Crap
You are probably confusing Venkiah Naidu with Bangaru Lakshman. All Talk and No Action talked about alienation felt by North East. Looks like South Indians confuse us too..
Bangaru Lakshman was BJP President during Tehelka sting and was removed from his post. He does not hold any post in the party now and is probably not even with the party now.
Even after Loan waiver, farmers are commiting suicides. Its because poor farmers dont get loans from Banks. They have to take it from money lenders. Loan waiver will help only 26% farmers as 76% take loans from money lenders. Now I am not sure if money would reach even to these 26%. Are you ?
http://www.hinduonnet.com/fline/fl2506/stories/20080328250602200.htm
http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/mar/05farm.htm
As far as Ram Temple is concerned, BJP has made this clear 1000 times that they will make the temple once they get majority on their own. Same is the case with Article 370 & Common Civil Code.
BTW, Congress announced just after demolition that they would rebuild the mosque. But ask them now and they will deny that.
During Kandahar crisis, decision was taken by all the parties including Congress and not just by LK Advani.
As far as Jayalalita is concerned, had BJP really licked her feet, the Govt would not have lasted just 13 months but for five years.
She withdrew support because BJP refused to help her in cases against her. BJP chose to sacrifice the Govt than helping her in her cases.
And just today Indian Express has reported that Sonia Gandhi's friend Quatrochi has been removed from CBI's red corner notice.
And Varun Gandhi is not a hero, atleast for me.
I do not believe that everyone is a saint in BJP and everyone is a devil in Congress. In one of my above reply, I have praised Sheila Dikshit.
But overall, BJP is 100 times better party.
mmm...now i think with my english my history lessons went wrong too.. :P
waise bangaru lakshman ki biwi ko ticket diya tha BJP ne Rajsthan se...
i think even BJP knows that ki only 26% take loan from banks so they are promising such things....
as far as no of suicide goes ...log to millionaire hone ke baad bhi karte hai suicideyaar ..u cant stop everyone..but u can atlest extend helping hand....
or ram mandir ko SC pe kyu nahi chod dete ye log..y they want to build by themselves??..i think they shd build a hospital der....
waise kandhar ka desicion kisne liya pata nahi but LK advani ne to surely nahi liya...as he said in NDTV show..that he didnt even know ki jaswant singh is going...wat a joke....the IRON men of BJP and HOme minister of india...had know clue at all..
or boss everybody knows that...they licked her feet big time..n thats y it lasted for 13 months...and any party talking of sacrifice sound FUNNY to me ...
ye sab chor log election ke baad ek ho jayegne or hum fukat me panga le rahe hai yaaha....chalo yaar maine bahut comments likh diye yaha pe..this one is my last comment for this post....
keep posting!!!!!!!!
cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ all the crap... Thanks.. :-)
@India Unbound... Modi is not there because of the "managerial ideology" or "internal democracy" that BJP is following.. BJP supports the Hindutva most strongly as compared to any other party in india.. (here, i am not saying that they do not project themselves as being secular.. they do.. ) Modi is there because of this ideology only.. There are other chief ministers as well by BJP but they have not done very well.. (Vasundhara Raje Sindhia!! or for that matter Kalyan Singh as well)
I totally agree that BJP has more thoughtful brains... much much more than all the parties combined.. Arun shourie.. Arun Jetley.. Advani himself.. and the most senior Vajpayee ji is THE character of sensibility in indian politics.. But, thoughts only do not make a political party the best.. I believe that they have got the best sensibility to think about the processes, right-wrong equations and moral righteous attitudes.. but when it comes on to implementing themselves, they are not good.. its just like that a strategy boy may have problems in door-to-door marketing.. there is nothing wrong to it.. its psychologically perfectly correct..
the way we believe that BJP would give the ultimate solution to everything then i believe that we should also think of making a group of people who can implement those perfectly.. In BJP Arun jetley is one of the persons who is perfect executioner.. so he should surely be there in the team..
I know that i am trying to give a picture which is not possible, given the political hunger of different parties but the perfect angle in only possible with the mutual cooperation by different polticial people of the policy basis.. not on the party basis.. dream of India with a perfect blend of leaders who strive to think of perfect planning and execution with longer horiozon in mind with national interests at the priority... and leaders who do not fear to get the criticism and think about improving themseleves everyday and hence making India progress all the way to glory..
Amen... :-)
@All Talk and No Action... Thanks for appreciation.. :-)
Perfectly agree with the word "will".. thats the one thing which gives the execution line beyond just the thinking part..
I agree on the disappointment regarding not taking basic steps against terrorism.. I fully agree on high policies for the safety of the people.. but there are other basic problems apart from just paying well to the police or security officers.. once you get more, you want even more... and policing for this process is again open the gate of policing the next people as well.. as i had said in the other post as well, that we try to break the system... so, the solutions are not from top to bottom by different perks.. its more related to bottom to top.. for these tasks.. (may be i would post an article covering the things which can give an improvement in this regard)..
NE has always been ignored by all the political parties.. so its again open to plethors of doubts/questions on the right intentions of our leaders.. In general leaders.. i can't pick any single party who is doing anything for them..
I guess most of the leaders do not have the ability to see the "big picture" or they just ignore it.. the local interests dominate over the national or big interests.. this gives lead to localisation of issues in then satisficing principle by local parties..
Definitely, its time to change... for better.. but everything should be done on policy basis... and for that we should go to our very basic needs.. Education, Security, Food, Health.. if any of the parties can deal only these issues efficiently (giving more than 10% improvement y-o-y) i am game to vote for that party..
Show on paper.. not on talks.. Get the action and let the momentum running.. :-)
I wish we have the best of the futures possible for each and everyone of us with the new government coming to the charge.. Amen... :-)
the best thing.. "All Talk no action" has given platform by putting such a great post which has got such a thought provoking discussion overall..
Wonderful!!
~keep rocking!! :-)
@ All Crap
If BJP licked Jayalalita's feet why did she withdrew support from the Government ? Its like saying that Congress agreed to commies' demand to scrap the nuclear deal.
BJP chose to sacrifice the Govt than to help Jayalalita in her cases. This may sound funny to you but this is the truth.
@ ashkd
Friends of BJP is an organisation which intends to be a watchdog of the next BJP led Govt in centre. Please Join http://friendsofbjp.org/
BJP chief ministers like Raman Singh, Shivraj Singh, Prem Kumar Dhumal are doing good job too. Raman Singh & Shivraj were re elected a few months back and the issue in election was their Governance and not HIndutva.
@All - I am v v happy to see so much participation here. I have often craved for intelligent Political Discussions and it's too damn nice to see such valuable comments by all.
@allthecrap & Indiaunbound - It's been real fun to read both of your comments !! I already have my answers ready...But would share them tmw.. when i am in a fresh frame of mind :)
Btw, allthecrap, just on the Varun point - I am neither a supporter nor is a hero for me. Fanatics, be it from any religion, are not for me :) Though in this case, I think he isn't a fanatic. Was plain foolish.
Also, finding out what ails BJP/its negatives would again be a very good discussion ! My next post would be on that...
@ashkd - I think your GD/PI served you well here. You were more of a moderator for this discussion :)
Thank you very much for your thoughts...
superb post and awesome dicussion...
@alltalk...nice to know ki next post on NDA...:)
@indiaunbound ...Chod yaar tu nahi manega ki jayalalita aadhe time delhi me hoti thi or jab nahi hoti tab...jasawant singh ya advani tamilnadu me...are bahut blackmail kiya hoga...to baad me frustrate hoke BJP ne chod diya hoga yaar.....btw it seems like tujhe BJP me 'RAB' dikhta hai... :P
even advani wont have so much faith in his own party jitna tujhe hai... :)
@ashkd ...tusi gr8 ho....
are bahut blackmail kiya hoga...to baad me frustrate hoke BJP ne chod diya hoga yaar....My stand is not based on ye hua hoga ya wo hua hoga. It is based on solid facts.
If you know that Jaswant Singh used to be in Chennai to pacify J (which is true), why dont you also tell us how BJP obliged her by giving some examples?
Or do you think that Jaswant Singh or Advani trying to pacify J is similar to Manmohan saving Mulayam, Shibu Soren, Quatrochi from CBI ?
The fact still remains that BJP did not do anything unethical to save its Govt the way Manmohan Singh did in last five years.
Do you really think Modi would have been as successful in Congress where chief ministers are not elected but selected by party high command and where their fate does not depend on their performance but on their willingness to crawl in front of high command?
It is wrong to say that BJP licked J's foot but it's perfectly fine to say that Congress chooses CM's based on their willingness to crawl in front of the high command.
So I assume there are people out there who have seen the present Congress CM's "crawl" in front of the party high command...Maybe you were there when this happened and hence it is a SOLID FACT !
@ anonymous...kickass reply...
"She withdrew support because BJP refused to help her in cases against her. BJP chose to sacrifice the Govt than helping her in her cases."
-and he must have seen this sacrifice wala episode also...
"BTW, Congress announced just after demolition that they would rebuild the mosque. But ask them now and they will deny that."
-And he even heard or read this congress anouncement also but nobody knows except him knows...
"During Kandahar crisis, decision was taken by all the parties including Congress and not just by LK Advani."
-and mr advani says he didnt know wat was happening in NDTV interview
@india unbound ...r u lk advani by any chance??...just asking...
Ms. Jayalalitha managed to force the BJP Government to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act to protect herself
google it u will get one hindu paper's article....
Former Congress CM accepts Jee Huzoori in the party:

@ All Crap
You still could not explain why J withdrew support from NDA in 1998 if NDA was licking her feet.

@allthecrap & indiaunbound - I think it is amply clear that BJP is the best amongst all the choices available to a voter. So ab hum log baal ki khaal kyun nikaal rahe hain??
@allthecrap - Gorkhaland ka issue is a good one actually. 100 crore ki aabadi and itne kam states? US mai 30 crore ki aabadi and itne zyada states? I toh feel jitne chote states ho utna achha...administration becomes really good. Jharkhand & Chhatisgarh are good examples...
Liquidity ki baat kare th what I meant earlier is ki is recession ke time par UPA followed regressive policies, sucked out liquidity from the market, increased interest rates, etc. Common sense says ki give more money to people in hand so that economy can boom, people buy and industries keep functioning...
Rahi Ram Mandir ki baat toh it can get very nasty to discuss it here. But let's just say that there is a vast majority of people who would want a Mandir there.
Ab Ram Mandir is a major religious issue and we can fill pages on it. When I set out to post this article, I wanted to steer clear of any religious jingoism and wanted to focus only on the "Progress" plank.
@indiaunbound - Thanks for posting those links !! very informative indeed. I was not very much into politics in 1998-99...These articles and the whole discussion have added to my knowledge too..
@akhil - Thanks for stopping by...
How I wish people understood that Pseudo Secularism is NOT in their interest. Infact I await a day when our politicians would fight out on "real" issues and not religious issues. Also I await a day when people "see" through such schemes !
@Ye Manzilen - Ji haan, I also believe that a killer is a killer is a killer! I don't think anyone out here is out to dis-respect or blame a religion.
Khair aapke kya khayal hain Indian Politics par...aapne yeh bataya nahi...
@ everyone.. As All talk no action has written ki baal ki khaal kyun nikal rahe hain.. We cant discuss each and everything under moon.. and for that matter, seeing the logical blend in the political decisions is itself a farce.. may be now we are discussing the points and relevance of those which are not clear to the people who have done those.. Jayalalitha doesn't even know why she has so manyyy shoes in her wardrobe, i really have doubt on her policies (if there are any.. hehe..)
I guess the objective of the discussion was to provide a healthy discussions and bring about the points and the facts... but after a stretch, political things go on based upon your inclination towards one of the parties.. this happens without knowing why they did something..
The last thing.. just like a cricket team.. you shouldnt have the best of the best in your team to be the best.. its the combination, cooperation, coordination, committment for the final goal which leads to become the best team.. so this holds for politics as well.. the best combination should win.. also, we should give weightage to different leaders while judging individual parties.. there is no black or white.. every party is a grey shade party.. so you should decide on which has got more fairer face.. discuss on the issues which are affecting your daily life/near future and a near long term future to decide on the fairer face.. i hope this would make the discussion more interesting, acceptable by everyone and then we would have clarity at the end of the day to decide something for the elections, individually for our votes.. :-)
@All Talk No Action.. Moderator address karne ke liye shukriya.. :-)
The sucking of liquidity in the market is done to keep check of inflation first of all.. not for the recession.. this is the game which happened for the first time.. if you have more money in the market then the velocity (exchanges of money) increases and hence the inflation automatically increases.. last year the main crux of the economy of india was inflation, not the recession.. Recession came later to india.. if these measures had not been taken then the "perception" of inflation would have been frightening.. though everyone of us know that the inflation index doesn't at all reflect the price-increase in general in the market.. surely those have been very very high.. thats also a topic of discussion which goes against totally for UPA government..
Even for the recession case.. if people had more money.. the expenditure won't have been in accordance to that as we are not exactly governed by the domestic supply of goods.. the global slow down would have affected the lesser options to buy things now.. the recession leads to keeping your consumption for a later date.. then they would have thought about investing it.. stock market was a bad option.. or, investing back to government bonds or savings in the banks.. the last case would have been that the savings would have gone to 'black money' without proper money holding in the market.. so, in this condition as well the lessening of liquidity in the market was a relevant decision..
(do correct me if i am missing the basics somewhere.. :-))
@allthecrap.. Thanks once again... :-)
@India Unbound.. totally agree for the performances of the CMs of MP and Chhatisgarh... they are doing wonderful job.. i have faith on Yedurappa as well..(correct the name if i am wrong.. i meant Karnataka CM :P)
@ All Crap
I will re iterate that I never said that everyone is a saint in BJP. I did not defend BJP on Sukhram & Petrol Pump issue but that does not mean that I will accept that they agreed to Jayalalita's demand when they didn't. However these were minor abberations compared to corruption and double standards of Congress.
Regarding Ram Temple, BJP's policy has been consistent. However, I agree to All Talk and No Action that we should not discuss religious issues here.
I hope you would have read All Talk's reply on Gorkhaland issue and would realize that there is a difference in demanding a separate state and a separate country. I do not understand by what stretch of imagination, demand for a separate state is divisive as it will lead to more development.
@ ashkd
You are right about Yedurappa :D He is also called as Yeddi.
However regarding Govt's response to inflation & slowdown, I have a slightly different view. Tightening money supply was right when inflation was sky rocketing. However, once Oil prices started falling & the commodity bubble burst, it was clear that inflation would fall too. Hence at that moment RBI should have loosened money supply, as recession clouds were hovering everywhere.
Today we have inflation at less than 1% and slowdown in growth (negative growth in Q4 09) due to delay in increasing money supply by RBI and delay in fiscal stimulus by Govt.
Also it is a known fact that Infrastructure spending is one of the best ways to boost growth. The Govt fell short of that too.
I believe this is what All Talk and No Action meant in her critique of Govt's economic policies.
Yippe Guys !! Voting Done...
Well done to all those who participated in this Juggernaut :)
i too have voted.. :-)
Alltalk: I am optimistic about the young lot of politicians from all the sides of the spectrum. I hope they practice "no discrimination or appeasement of any kind" in life and politics.
As far as "poorane chawal" type politicians are concerned, we just hope they retire...
