I went for this one only for the lead pair.

Do dooni char (DDC) presents a humorous tale of a school teacher's humble earnings and his family's struggle to keep up with the Joneses.

The movie has its funny moments and brings out a vivid portrayal of Delhi.

The writing however, appears cheesy, forced and even trite, especially during the climax. The subject on hand is important and the story must be told, but the writing fails to provide adequate closure to the audience.

When I think about a good mix of Bollywood and a natural portrayal of the middle class, Jaideep Sahni is the only writer who makes the cut. His writing is simple, yet, mindful of meeting basic box office demands.

On the acting front, Neetu Kapoor looks lovelier than ever and brings much charm to the middle class house wife. It's a pleasure watching the real life couple squabble over daily chores on the screen.

The debutantes do an okay job, though Aditi Vasudev's histrionics are quite an irritant to the nerves. I must make a mention of Shilpa Shukla here. The lady never fails to impress - be it her portrayal of a loud, fun loving Bengali aunt in Parineeta or a Sardarni in Lage Raho Munnabhai. Even here, she reminds of beings called buas - necessary but spoilt relatives!

The only reason DDC finds a mention on the blog is Rishi Kapoor. One look at him and I know why I was hard on Ranbir when he entered Bollywood. When you have a father like Rishi Kapoor, one expects only the best from you.

The warmth and honesty that Rishi Kapoor brings to his roles have often delighted me. It helps that he has a funny bone and is quite masterful in his comic timing.

He may not have won too many popular awards, but his performances always leave one feeling good.

That is reason enough for me to spend stupid money.
