Sad

All Talk and No Action Tuesday, September 13, 2011

It's been a depressing last few days.

The weekend came with a big health scare for me. For a full 24 hours, I was under observation (at home) while we awaited the unbearable pain to recede and the medicines to work their way.

Thankfully, I am well now and the scare was just a false alarm. But, something snapped within me.

Not that I haven't been sick earlier. Hell, I have seen worse days due to my allergy induced cough. But Friday night was different.

Not someone to give in to despondency, as the hours passed, I watched helplessly, while my parents worried themselves sick over the medical reports. More than my pain, seeing my family suffer, upset me. I hated every minute of it.

I hate it when parents cry. When any parent cries. No parent deserves to cry. Ever.

Since I took a medical leave yesterday, I was unaware of a tragedy with a colleague.

This colleague while traveling to work from the Central line (Ghatkopar) met with a gruesome and tragic end yesterday.

I haven't been able to get him out of my head.

Not that I knew him personally. My interactions were mostly work related.

Yet, the suddenness and the brutality of his accident are things I will take time to get over.

I am just so sorry for him and his family. And his daughter who will turn 1 on this Friday.

Today, I also feel sorry for victims of local train accidents in Mumbai. Today, the accidents have become more than a statistic to me.

This is just one of those posts I had to get out of my system.
