I always wanted to become a Doctor.
Pata nahi, kabhi dimaag kharab hua and I changed my decision.
Anyway, that's another issue.
Khair, jab mai choti thi, I always saw myself as Dr. Zoya Khan.
Any bells ringing yet?
I am talking about one of the most popular and evergreen shows to be telecast in the Indian Sub-Continent -
Dhoop Kinare
Don't know how many of you have heard about it or watched it. However, I absolutelllyyy loved it !
Set in the late 1980s/early1990s, Dhoop Kinare revolves around a Medical Intern (Marina Khan) and a senior Doctor (Rahat Kazmi).
The serial showcased a lovely relationship between the two and is one of the best romantic stories ever to have been brought on screen.
When I started watching it, I was too young to understand a lot of the heavy duty dialogues. Yet, the simplicity and the beauty with which all characters were portrayed, just grew on one...
During the past few years I have always kept going back to this serial and seen it in bits and pieces.
A lot of Pakistani shows from the 1990s have that evergreen quality and remain lovable till date.
To top it all, I idolised Marina Khan. I thought then, and still think that she is one of the most talented and beautiful actresses ever !
Her portrayal of Dr. Zoya is full of charm, humour, strength and a subtle rebellion which I always loved.
I think, on the Indian side, if this were to ever be re-made, then shayad sirf Kajol yeh role kar paaye...
Do watch this one, if you haven't had a chance to do so till now...
