Butter Wada Pav
Cheese Wada Pav

Szechwan Wada Pav

Chole Wada Pav
Paneer Wada Pav

Manchurian Wada Pav

Grilled Wada Pav
.................................

Jumbo King and the likes have revolutionized this little snack from Maharashtra, forever.

They have come up with never before thought of variations to this snack and maintain high standards in terms of cleanliness, storage and packaging.

Creative pricing too has helped to convert and bring in the common man into the net.

A good fusion food, with mouth watering chole and tangy sauces.... Umm.....Yummmyyy......Right?

Noo !

Absolutely wrong !

Why would anyone... or rather, how could anyone like to distort a perfectly delicious, spicy, spongy and wholesome snack?

Why would one like a Szechwan Wada Pav when the normal Wada Pav offers a perfect taste of hot potatoes, garnished with the most perfect orange chutney and a teekhi hari mirch?

Just why do we morph and dilute delicious things to make them sooo cosmetic ?

Phew. Come what may, I just cannot imagine having a paneer wada pav when I can get my hands on a scalding hot, traditional, road-side, Desi Wada Pav !

Now that's pure yummmm....

I must agree the Jumbo Vada Pav even though revolutionary in it's approach to the popular indian snack, failed to understand that the vada pav is a sort of pop culture icon for mumbai...and people don't want it to change- the same way that we wouldn't eat bhel puri from a restaurant.
Secondly thanks for your comment on my post however "which lecture made you draw..." was that meant in a good way or did you think my doodle to be vulgar??? Basically was it good or bad???
Thirdly the Tata Jagriti Yatra is something that attracted me instantly I checked out the site. However Rs.32000 for the trip is a bit costly for 1 person and what do they mean by limited sponsorship? Are you planning to apply?

@Deepak - Bingo ! That's the best part of eating a Desi Wada Pav !

@ARJuna - Nope, its not that Jumbo has got it wrong. Its very famous and has been able to sustain itself. It's just that Wada Pav means desi..else why not have a burger..?

About Tata Jagriti Yatra....I won't be able to go due to work commitments... and yes, 32K is way to steep :) Ltd. sponsorship means you should apply as early as possible since Tata would sponsor very few Yatris out of its own kitty.

About your doodle, Nope, it wasn't vulgar :)

@allthecrap - Yes, Jumbo is fine, but I still love the roadside fare better :)

Wandered in while surfing. Though some classics are best left alone, the essence of cooking is in experimentation and fusions. Without that inventiveness we would not have had Indo-Chinese , Rava Idlis et al. A few things that I've liked after I dared not to taste it for a while -- Paan Kulfi (flavored with paan leaves, elachi et al) & Gulab Jamun + Vanilla Ice cream..

So trial is good, if the product is good, it will sell itself. If not, even God himself cannot make it sell :-)

Nice blog..

@allthecrap - I have taken the pic from google :)

@Madhu - Absolutely Correct. Food without experimentation would have been a drag. But somethings are classics and have certain emotional value attached :)

Though I must add, I too like the gulab jamun & vanilla combo.

Thanks for stopping by.
