Janamashtami is one of the most important days at home.

Earlier, we used to go to temples and bring in the birth at midnight.

Then we realised that a better way to celebrate and assimilate all things nice, would be through having Krsna take birth in our own home.

Thus, since 1996, we have been celebrating Janamashtami at home, fasting through the day and feasting at night.

I had wanted to write more about what I feel and think about Krsna, why I believe in him and what I have learnt from him.

However, I also want to do justice to the post - and not make it an emotional/mushy piece.

Hence, the post will take more time to get featured here.

Wishing you a very Happy Janamashtami.

At home, it's a big day for my family – lots of celebrations, decorations, fasting and feasting after midnight (after birth).

If you celebrate Janamashtami too, do share your story and snaps.

Earliest memories of Janamashtami include trips to ISKCON and a yummy feast at 12 am...

Then, since the past 13 years I started fasting on this auspicious day...

Krsna doesn't propagate fasting or any activity that brings discomfort to the body.

However, this is my way of thanking him for his blessings.

It's an extremely satisfying feeling to be fasting for the Lord . More so, when you know that the fast shall be followed by a yummy meal of Sabu daane, Kheer, Mithai and the likes !

Wishing You All a Very Happy Janamashtami ! :-)
