Javed Akhtar and his timeless lyrics never fail to impress me. I share some of my most favourite songs by the Bard of Bollywood -
The following words sung by "Mohan" never fail to amaze me. Every time I listen to the tracks from Swades, I feel I am re-learning the basics of life.
The following is another one of my all time favourites. The lyrics are so simple, yet keep you coming back for more. This song makes "Zindagi" sound so full of life.
One of the very few movies that I will never tire of watching, enjoying and loving. The lyrics of the below song are perfect. It helps that the song is shot beautifully and there is a fine blending of the inner turmoil that the protagonists suffer with the external background of a war.
The title track is special for reasons apart from the stunning lyrics.
This is one of the sweetest songs ever written. I remember singing it for friends who felt bored or low (Phew, Now that I think, there is no reason why we should have felt low - just what the heck do Collegians ever do anyway ?!)
The below is one of the best that the Akhtar- Rahman duo have gifted us with. You don't have to be Emperor Akbar to feel the "divine presence". One automatically goes into a trance while listening to this beautiful rendition.
I have the habit of putting my fave songs as my caller tunes...
Ab yeh zaroori nahi ki mere callers ko bhi wahi gaane pasand aayen...
Infact many friends keep asking ki "Tu toh khud ko call karti nahi....toh fir apni pasand ke gaane kyun??"
Unhe kya pata ki mai kabhi kabhar khud ko call karke apni caller tune sun leti hoon ;-)
So today, Namrata ne kaha....
"Madam, kuch toh baat hai...yehi gaana tu pichle 2 saalo mai na jaane kitni baar laga chuki hai...Koi romantic connection hai kya??"
Kyun bhai, gaana pasand aane ke liye pyar ka hona zaroori hai kya?
BTW - I absolutely love this song !! Not very sugary lyrics or sho shaa... Just simple, easy on the ear words and such fabulous music...
Also, "Hey Shona" captures the sentiment so damn well...When I think of similar words in Sindhi, I can't help but roar with laughter :-)
Another reason I love this song is because of Rani. I have a penchant for Lonng Ear-Rings and I think Rani looks very stylish in them...
I remember, after watching the movie, I added even more Rani Like ear-rings to my already long collection....
Over-all too, the song is very "pretty" looking and has a frothy feel.
Sirf ek baat chamakti nahi - woh yeh, ki Rani itne bade Heels mai bhaag vaag kaise leti hai...Mai Toh kabhi na kar paaun :-)
Anyway, here I dedicate this song to all of you !
