Somtimes I think it is a miracle to keep alive in India, especially in a metro.

Take this news for example.

Less than a third of the IB's estimated 25,000-strong manpower, two former high-ranking officers told The Hindu, is dedicated to what might be described as national security tasks — like monitoring terrorist groups or extremist organisations. Even that ratio, one serving officer said, was “a charitable assessment.”

...highly placed intelligence sources have told The Hindu, a large part of the IB's resources were committed, and remain committed, to providing the government raw information and assessments on its increasingly bleak political prospects. In the summer, the IB carefully monitored Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's public meetings in Uttar Pradesh after the events at Bhatta Parsaul; later it sought to penetrate Anna Hazare's anti-corruption mobilisation in New Delhi.

On the upside, this news offers tremendous opportunities to martial arts' professionals to set more shops, for in future, we will have citizen armies looking after their own security measures.

In this address, Arun Jaitley raises some pertinent questions while being at his acerbic best.

I was amused, and later, tired, of the idiotic turn of events since yesterday - a negotiation over the number of days of protest ?

So, all I could hear was people around me talking about how 21 days is better and has more "sticky" value than 7 or 13 days?!

Some friends attended the rally at the Azad Maidan and proclaimed their support for Anna's right to fast for 30 days.

I suspect that was all they were protesting for.

Everything I have ever felt about Baba Ramdev but haven't been able to enunciate in my talks with friends and acquaintances can be found here.

I don't like the idea of holding fasting interventions. Not that I am against the sentiment. Just that I don't see too much value in such mass movements. There has to be a better, faster and more effective method of dealing with this demoniacal government and making it listen to our demands. Personally, fasting seems too sweet and courteous a method to deal with people who keep looting us day in and day out.

Also, sometimes, fasting appears to be more opportunistic, and less noble in nature.

I hope more people write and voice their opinion on the ugly treatment meted out to Baba Ramdev and his supporters. This is an outrage you ought to feel.

This is what happens when you have spineless leaders and a worthless government at the center.

The only way I see to resolve the widespread alienation, is through discarding Article 370.

How many years before we get a leader who rises above vote bank politics and does what it takes to bring Kashmir home?
