In this address, Arun Jaitley raises some pertinent questions while being at his acerbic best.

I was amused, and later, tired, of the idiotic turn of events since yesterday - a negotiation over the number of days of protest ?

So, all I could hear was people around me talking about how 21 days is better and has more "sticky" value than 7 or 13 days?!

Some friends attended the rally at the Azad Maidan and proclaimed their support for Anna's right to fast for 30 days.

I suspect that was all they were protesting for.

Everything I have ever felt about Baba Ramdev but haven't been able to enunciate in my talks with friends and acquaintances can be found here.

****************
I don't like the idea of holding fasting interventions. Not that I am against the sentiment. Just that I don't see too much value in such mass movements. There has to be a better, faster and more effective method of dealing with this demoniacal government and making it listen to our demands. Personally, fasting seems too sweet and courteous a method to deal with people who keep looting us day in and day out.

Also, sometimes, fasting appears to be more opportunistic, and less noble in nature.

I hope more people write and voice their opinion on the ugly treatment meted out to Baba Ramdev and his supporters. This is an outrage you ought to feel.

Some days back I was enlightened on the truly entrepreneurial nature of Indians.

A small business owner saw ample opportunity in the Mumbai Railway Ticketing industry.

The business provides insurance to ticketless travelers.

You just heard it !

Insurance to ticketless travelers.

From my knowledge, this firm operates in Bhandup and provides insurance at a premium of Rs. 300/-

Any unlucky traveler can go and encash the fine receipt.

*****

We surmised the business to have a very good rate of return.

How many people end up getting caught anyway ?

*****
The company has been around for many years. Obviously, it is discreet and generates revenues through word of mouth.

I also think it's a very scalable model. Have a set up outside every station in Mumbai. Once monopoly has been established, set sail for the rest of the country.

*****

I am sure the railway authorities, TCs and police must be hand in glove.

Else, how do you explain the miniscule percentage of ticketless travelers that ever get caught ?

*****

I do not know the name of this company. So don't even ask.

Frankly, am bored reading such stuff

Yeah, I know that my attitude is wrong. I should be more concerned and not show dis-interest towards such news.

Rather, this is supposed to make me spring into action and take an oath that I wouldn't be party to such stuff.

All true.

But it's sooo damn frustrating to read such demotivating news day in and day out !

A rape here, a CEO murdered there, A minister justifying the CEO's murder (This one actually made me roll with laughter, yeah I know it's not funny !), a school child killed by a truck, political despondency in responding to flood victims, blaaah blaaah blaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

I mean going by such headlines - we should be the most pathetic, hypocratic, insensitive hooligans on the face of Earth ! (I am scared as this could actually be true !)

Maybe the media should cover stories and examples of real life heroes and try and re-inforce the inherent good in Indians.

This is very much necessary to re-convert all cynics.
